GHARIB: Well, you’ve pressed OPEC to increase oil production –

BUSH: I did.

GHARIB: And they didn’t do it. Let’s say that OPEC did pump more oil. How much do you think that that would bring down oil prices, by $20, $30?

BUSH: You know, I don’t know. You’re going to have to ask the experts that. I’m just a simple president. But I really don’t know what it would do. I do know that the main problem is supply and demand and excess supply obviously would help.


Watch the video. And weep for your country. ETA Weep for your country even if you're not a citizen of the US. Because the devastation has not, unfortunately, been confined to the fifty states. Dubya has ten more months in office. Who knows -- maybe he'll decide to invade you next.

Yep. "That Man" is pretty much the ultimate in "that useless waste of resources" in southern. As in, "have you heard what That Man said yesterday?!?"

Anyone who claims to be just a simple man, while having ultimate control over the death of millions, is a special sort of fuckwit. It's not exactly a believable sort of humility.

A key question that isn't being talked about much is whether the oil tap is turned all the way open at this point. If it is, then what Bush asks OPEC to do, or what OPEC says it will or won't do, doesn't mean much anymore.
